This is such a great resource. I will be forwarding to friends and colleagues for inspiration. I had never thought of the power of a shower for generating business ideas. I also agree with Dana above that driving in my car alone helps me come up with ideas. You’ve put together a great article Thanks for sharing it.

Absolutely the shower. But only in the morning. I have so many ideas cropping up that on the drive into work I use Jott.com to leave myself memos.

For those unfamiliar, Jott.com allows you to call on your cellphone and leave a voice message that will transcribed into text and sent to you, others, and placed in an online note management program. (I heard Jott’s free option is now gone, however, and it’s only for paying customers. I’ve yet to shell out, but it’s very useful.)

Other idea is take a digital voice recorder to capture all the thoughts while driving (a little clunky compared to Jott.com, however).

First thing in the morning, before the busy business of the day can take hold, I like to spend a little quality time propped up with a cup of coffee and a big fat notebook. Even 10 minutes is enough, most days, to get the brain in gear.

I stop thinking deliberately and go do something else, totally unrelated, something banal like dusting or watching CSI Miami. It seems to take the pressure off so my mind can reset itself and next thing I know, the faucet of inspiration is on again.
